This week as we reflect on all that we are thankful for, we wanted to each write a small paragraph of what is on our hearts this year. We are so blessed and so thankful for each and every one of you, and we hope this post inspires you to reflect on what you are thankful for!
When I reflect over each year I always have so many things to be thankful for. But this year in particular, I have the most to be thankful for. This past September our daughter was born. We started the adoption process in February and matched with her in August just before her due date. The day we matched was the greatest day of our lives until the day she was born. She is the greatest gift I have ever received. I am so thankful for all that God has taught me through this experience. I'm thankful that I am the one that gets to see her smile every day. I am thankful for this sweet precious soul that I get to love on. I am thankful and humbled that we get to be her parents.
This year I am especially thankful for family. Not only my family by blood, but my second family as well. I am thankful for a husband who stands by my side no matter what life may bring, my fur-baby Milo who brings so much joy to our little home, my parents who encourage me to never give up on my dreams, and my sisters who I can count on for anything even though we live in different places. I am also thankful for my second family Melody, Kayla, and Macy who have helped me grow not only in my career in fashion but more importantly in my faith. These ladies have truly had an impact on my life and I am so thankful for that! Family is such a special thing whether you are tied by blood or simply by love and for that I am truly thankful!
This Thanksgiving I am thankful for the amount of people that I hold dear to my heart. My husband is a full time medical student and still manages to make me fall more in love with him daily. My mom is such an encourager, she is always pushing me to grow in the Lord. Kayla is the type of sister everyone should get to have, she has pushed me to be the person I am today while loving me though the process. Madison is my best friend, we laugh together, cry together, shop together, church together. There are few people who get to have the kind of friendship we have. I have always had a close family but as you get older that family grows, and same with friends, I have always had a best friend but this year that circle has grown. It started with getting the sweetest girl in the world as my niece, then our family gained Lauren (my brothers girlfriend and basically our long lost sister), and lately I have met some God-fearing women who are not only my friends but also my encouragers. I have been so blessed this year by the numerous people God has put in my life.
When I sat down to write about what I am thankful for I had so much trouble putting it into words that would be succinct and engaging, my heart came up with these.....Jesus, my husband, my children, my baby granddaughter, my parents, my extended family, my friends, basically it could be summed up in the relationships I have been given. Isn't that what most people would say? Do we take the time to tell the special people in our lives what they mean to us? Even though we would all say these relationships are the most important, what do our actions say? This Thanksgiving take time to tell the loves of your life how much they mean to you and make a commitment to show love in action to your loved ones.
I John 3:18 "My children, we should love people not only with words and talk, but by our actions and true caring."
